The ShareFile Drive Mapping software gives you the ability to map your ShareFile account as a network drive on your PC. You can then interact with your ShareFile files and folders just like any other file or folder on your hard drive. You can edit a document and save the new copy to your ShareFile account using the same steps you would to open/edit a file through Windows explorer. This tool ensures that you are accessing the most recent version of a document.
Drive mapping is available on Enterprise, Enterprise Gold, and VDR plans. This feature can also be enabled on Professional and Basic plans for an additional monthly fee.

ShareFile Drive Mapping Configuration
- Username: This is your e-mail address.
- Password: This is the password you use to log in to ShareFile.
- ShareFile Drive Letter: This is the letter drive on your computer that your ShareFile account will be mapped to.
- Once you have entered all the information click Connect.
Using Drive Mapping
- To access your ShareFile network drive, go to My Computer. If you double click on the network location, you will be able to view a list of the created folders on your account.
- You can manage your ShareFile files and folders just as you would other files on your computer. Double-click on a document’s name to open it. Once that it has opened, you can choose to ‘'Save As’' and save a copy to your hard drive.

- To upload a copy of a file to your ShareFile account, you can simply select to save an open file to a folder on your ShareFile network drive. You can also open ‘My Computer’ and locate the file, then drag it to a folder on your ShareFile drive. The ShareFile drive can be located and expanded in the Folder panel to the left of the My Computer explorer screen.
Note: Please note that moving or saving files into folders listed on your ShareFile network drive or opening files will cause these files to be uploaded and downloaded and will affect your monthly bandwidth use.
Best Practices
- ShareFile Drive Map does not support terminal server environments. For integration with server environments, we would recommend using Desktop Sync or Enterprise Sync.
- Drive mapping does not support 'Print to PDF', but you can use 'Save As' to convert a file from it's original format to the PDF format.
- Many times the virus program on your computer can interfere with Drive Mapping's ability to connect. We recommend making sure that the Drive mapping tool is excluded from your virus protection program and any scans.
